The Basic Principle Of The Router

Devices in the network communicate with each other mainly with their IP addresses, and routers can only forward data based on specific IP addresses. An IP address consists of two parts: a network address and a host address. In the Internet, the subnet mask is used to determine the network address and host address. The subnet mask is 32 bits like the IP address, and the two are one-to-one correspondence, the "1" in the subnet mask corresponds to the network address in the IP address, "0" corresponds to the host address, and the network address and host address constitute a complete IP address. In the same network, the network address of the IP address must be the same. Communication between computers can only be between IP addresses with the same network address, and if you want to communicate with computers in other network segments, you must forward it through the router. IP addresses with different network addresses cannot communicate directly, even if they are very close. Multiple ports of the router can connect multiple network segments, and the network address of the IP address of each port must be consistent with the network address of the connected network segment. Different ports have different network addresses, and the corresponding network segments are also different, so that the hosts in each network segment can send data to the router through the IP address of their network segments.
